From Healtholiks To Body Skulpt – Nadya Ali Shares Her Inspiring Journey
Nadya Ali - the brains behind well-known Facebook group and home-run healthy food business, 'HEALTHOLIKS,' and now the founder of 'BODY SKULPT' - took out some time to talk to Fashion Live about her amazing journey of becoming a Wompreneuer and an inspiration for all. We know that you need no more introduction, because her Banana Breads and yummilicious Peanut Butter have already done that.
Tell us a little about yourself; personal and professional life.
I am a marketer by Profession and a fitness trainer by Passion. Primarily a media specialist, having an experience of 10 years in the corporate sector, but I just recently quit my job to take up my passion as a full time profession.
Were you a fitness enthusiast since the beginning, or you just adopted it with time?
I have always been into fitness and maintaining a good physique. However, it’s only recent that I realized that it’s my passion point and I want to be more involved in this field. My hard-core association with the fitness industry has now been for full three years.
You have left 42DC for your own startup. Tell us a little about it?
I worked as a senior trainer for 42DC over the period of 2 years. But, I have now started my own venture called Body Skulpt. We launched the first program FAT Blaster – level 1 for women targeting fat loss and getting rid of trouble zones from 18th September.
How did you conceive the idea of Healtholiks?
Like many people who start living the “healthy lifestyle”, I quickly became the go-to fitness and nutrition expert for my friends and family. While catering to their daily requests and questions, I decided to set up a platform where I could share knowledge with them while also helping more people at the same time. That’s how Healtholiks came into being. So now I run a healthy food venture by the name of HEALTHOLIKS, and have a closed group as well. The group has the same name with almost 4000 women who regularly interact with me for their fitness journey
How has Healtholiks helped you, and other ladies associated with it, grow for the better lifestyle?
It, definitely, is a great motivation for me and an inspiration for many. I have hundreds of women who come back to me with their fitness transformations that were enabled by Healtholiks and my continuous guidance.
I regularly hold clean eating challenges that have helped many women adopt healthy as a lifestyle.
This group has turned into a huge success, what are your further expectations?
I want Healtholiks to be the go to platform for women for all their fitness needs. I hope that it continues to play a pivotal role in redefining lifestyle for people in Pakistan
What has Healtholiks in pipeline for the future?
Providing not only advice and recommendations but all fitness related services as well such as workout programs, challenges, fitness wear food options etc. In short, a one-stop fitness solution.
What is your advice for the ladies seeking to lose weight?
Fitness is a lifestyle – not a short term solution to weight loss. The only thing that will show results is focus and commitment to this lifestyle. Stop going for fad diets and unhealthy means to lose weight – you will only end up gaining it all back and get frustrated. Make healthy your lifestyle.
Some easy tips for weight loss.
- Eat 4-5 times a day
- Eat in small portions
- Stay away from refined food such as white rice, white flour
- Consume good carbs and wholegrain
- Eat lean protein and avoid processed meat
- Cut all soda from your life
- Say no to Junk food
- SUGAR is a big no!
- Be consistent and patient
There is a growing trend of 42 day challenge, how do you conceive it for weight loss and health?
Working out in general is a growing fitness trend in Pakistan, and I think it’s a very healthy and important shift in the lifestyles. Workout in any form is essential for fitness, and I tell all the people to do something that excites them. Any workout is good as long as you do it!
What’s your diet regimen? What is your routine for staying healthy and maintaining weight?
I eat 5 meals a day that are balanced in proportions and contain all the important food groups i.e. protein, carbohydrates and fats. All these are essential for a healthy diet. When eating healthy, you do not have to eat less; you only need to make the right choices.
Do you opt for proper skin care every day? What does your everyday beauty routine consists of?
I do not have much time, due to my hectic routine, for the usual cosmetic skincare solutions but I do know that 4 liters day water keeps my skin fresh and glowing. So that’s my solution for skincare along with regular detox days where I consume healthy fruit and vegetable juices to detox my body of toxins. I also prefer natural solutions like home-made orange peel or tomato masks over the commercial products
Tell us a little about your famous and healthy banana breads. When did you start this business and how has it been faring in the masses?
Banana breads was one of the first items I introduced when I decided to expand Healtholiks into a home based healthy food venture around 6 months ago. Since then the response and love I have gotten for these breads is tremendous. Not only are they loved by adults, but what makes me really happy is the fact that kids love it equally. It’s a moment of pride for me to be helping people make healthier food choices for themselves and their kids.
Are you managing your personal and professional life well (commitment with Healtholiks and Body Skulpt etc.)?
I am not going to lie; my life is full of madness, most of the times. I am a perfectionist by nature, so I am always struggling to find the right balance. But, it’s something I have been managing well so far and, I owe a lot of it to my very understanding husband and family. I don’t think I could have pulled it off without their support.
