Hair Care Regime For Winters
While winters have already started full-fledged in Pakistan, we all are passing through the phase which has left our hair destroyed! Winter is the most hazardous season for our hair and scalp, it pulls all the moisture from your hair leaving you with extreme dryness which can lead to dandruff, dull and limp hair with split ends. So, you need to go through this hair care routine in order to get prepared for worst of the seasons!
- Deep Conditioning:
In winters your hair might feel dry and brittle; deep conditioning is the process of fortifying the hair with moisture or protein. You can buy a good deep conditioner from a nearby store or online marketplace. My personal recommendation is L'Oreal Paris Extra Ordinary Oils hair conditioner which I bought from Walmart. It is affordable and gives the required oils to my hair to keep them manageable.
- Minimize the hair wash:
This will prevent your hair from drying out too much. If you’re shampooing everyday, try twice a week.
- Use a milder shampoo:
Mild shampoo contains antibiotic properties to soothe the scalp and adds moisture to your hair. Washing your hair with Luke-warm water and mild shampoo will help reducing the hair breakage. Again my choice is The L'Oreal Paris Extra Ordinary Oil Shampoo which is my latest discovery and holy grail.
- Oiling your hair:
Moisturizing your hair with oil not only makes your hair shinny and strong, but also eliminates dandruff. The best oil that I recently used was by a Facebook page Organics. Their aloe vera and onion extract hair oil has given a lot of volume to my hair and has helped me in managing my hair in this extreme winter season in Lahore.
- Trim the split ends:
Regular trimming is a perfect way to keep your hair healthy. After you’ve trimmed your hair ends, use a moisturizing oil or butter/serum to seal your ends to protect them from the dry air. I have been using Moroccan Argan Oil and L'Oreal Paris Extra Ordinary Oils Hair serum to keep my hair soft and silky after taking a bath.
- Always dry your hair:
It's easy to just wash your hair and go, during summer and spring seasons. But if you try that during winter, it will not only damage your hair but you are also likely to catch flu.
- Home Remedies:
Your hair give you a distinct personality. Take some time to pamper your hair, there are many home remedies, some of them are:
- Massage your scalp with fresh onion juice. Leave it for an hour and then wash it with mild shampoo.
- Grate and squeeze 3 potatoes, add one egg yolk and a tablespoon of honey. Apply this mixture for 30 minutes.
- Mix two egg whites, a tablespoon of olive oil and honey to make the egg hair mask. Apply this mask on your scalp and leave for 20 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo and water.
